Flashlight Launcher (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an Android home-screen launcher with a built-in flashlight, published by BuildingStuffAI. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have. We designed the app to keep sensitive signals on your device.

Summary

• The flashlight, microphone, phone-state and notification features run on your device. We do not record audio, read your calls or messages, or read notification content.
• We use Google Firebase and Mixpanel for aggregate analytics (how the app is used), and Google AdMob to show ads.
• We do not sell your personal data.

Permissions and how they are used

• Camera / flashlight (CAMERA, FLASHLIGHT) — to control your device’s camera flash (torch, strobe, SOS, Morse). The camera is used only as a light; the app does not capture, view, or store photos or video.
• Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) — optional “music strobe”. When you enable it, the app measures sound levels to pulse the flash in time with audio. Audio is analysed in real time on your device and is never recorded, saved, or transmitted.
• Phone state (READ_PHONE_STATE) — optional “flash on call”. Used only to detect that a call is ringing so the flash can blink. Your phone number, contacts, and call details are not read, stored, or shared.
• Notification access (Notification Listener) — optional “flash on notification”. Used only to detect that a notification arrived so the flash can blink. Notification content (sender, text) is not read, stored, or shared.
• Approximate location (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) — optional weather widget only, to fetch local conditions. Location is used at request time and is not stored or shared by the app. If you do not use the weather widget, this permission is not needed.
• Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_CAMERA) — to keep the flashlight reliably on while the screen is off or the app is in the background.
• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — to show the flashlight’s ongoing control notification and optional messages.

Optional features are off until you enable them and grant the related permission. You can revoke any permission at any time in Android Settings.

Analytics data

To understand how the app is used and to improve it, we collect aggregate, app-activity and device data through Google Firebase and Mixpanel — for example: app opens, feature usage (e.g. strobe/SOS used), session length, app version, device model, OS version, and coarse region derived from IP. This data is used for analytics and product improvement. It is not used to identify you personally.

Advertising

The app is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use a device advertising identifier and related data to serve and measure ads, in line with Google’s policies. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

Data sharing and retention

We share data only with the service providers above, to operate analytics and ads on our behalf. We do not sell personal data. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to each provider’s retention policy. On-device signals (audio levels, call state, notification arrival) are processed transiently and are not retained.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

• Enable or disable any optional feature (music strobe, flash-on-call, flash-on-notification, weather) at any time.
• Revoke Camera, Microphone, Phone, Location, or Notification access in Android Settings.
• Reset or limit your advertising ID in Android Settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
